The officials of Ultimate Fighting Champion, UFC has unveiled the fighting schedules of the main card tagged FS1 to hold at Movistar Arena in Santiago, Chile. This schedule has been seen as an opportunity for the Nigerian born “Knock Out Punch” master, Usman Kamaru to continue his winning streak.
The Benin-born MMA specialist has earned himself a place in the UFC after he was selected to join The Ultimate Fighter: American Top Team vs. Blackzilians in February 2015 prior to his fight with Hayder Hassan in the finals on July 12, 2015. The “Nigerian Nightmare” as he is fondly called won himself a Performance of the Night bonus after he defeated Hayder with a submission via an arm-triangle choke.
Usman’s May 19 opponent is a Brazillian mixed martial artist, Demian Maia who is currently #5 in the UFC welterweight rankings as he is just two steps above Usman in the ranking table. He has been a 5 times Jiu Jitsu World Champion, ADCC World Submission Wrestling Champion and has also been awarded 4 times with the best ‘Submission of the Night’ at UFC.
Although, Demian lost his last two fights but experts has revered him as one of the greatest grapplers in MMA history. He has a total of 19 UFC wins and has been credited with wins over the likes of Jorge Masvidal, Carlos Condit, Matt Brown, Neil Magny and Gunnar Nelson.
It is expected that Usman would take advantage of his 76 inches reach and his striking superiority to dominate the fight in a bid to ensure his winning streak continues.
