Construction of Nekede-Polytechnic/Ihiagwa road kicks off

IMO STATE – The construction of long time dilapidated popular Nekede-Polytechnic/Ihiagwa road, in Owerri West LGA, commence as CBA, a Chinese construction company has been contracted to take up the project.

Indigenes and residents of Nekede and Ihiagwa express their uttermost appreciation to the state governor, His Excellency, Rt. Hon Chief Sir Emeka Ihedioha, for the development.

Speaking on the new development, Judith Ifeanyi, 29, said that she was very happy about the road construction and also thanking God that the governor has finally remembered them on the road issue.

She also stressed that the construction of the road will boost business activities, free movement as well as reduce accident and other activities would start working perfectly now.

“At least one can be able to walk freely, no falling from bikes, cars will not be spoiling on the road, customer will start patronizing us,” she happily said.

Mr. Yakubu Gada, 34, a staff of the construction company handling the project said the road has been totally bad for long but repairs and re-construction of the road is just starting, removing of logged waters and leveling of the road is in progress.

He also explained that rainfall is affecting the work in progress.

Mr. Marcelus Onyenso, 59, expressed his total happiness in the commencement of the construction work going on in Nekede-Polytechnic/Ihiagwa road.

He noted that the state of the bad road has totally collapsed his business.

Mr Marcelus who runs a restaurant business also said the re-construction of the road will yield a positive impact on his business and other activities.

“The former governor just poured sand but did not do the road, but today I have seen a light that the present governor will do the road,” he said.
