LAGOS – The popular Balogun market in Lagos has been thrown into turmoil Tuesday following a fire-outbreak in one of the buildings.
According to an eye witness, Mr Emma, said the fire-outbreak started around 11 am in a shopping plaza in Martin Street in the Balogun market.
However, the cause of the fire was not known but traders in the market were thrown into chaos as they were looking for a way to recover some of their goods.
In another development, another building in Dosumu Street, about 500 metres from Martin Street was also engulfed in fire.
Residents and traders were seen throwing their belongings through the window from the 4th and 5th floors of the burning buildings.
Although, a combination of fire fighters from Union Bank Bronto Skylift F42, Lagos State Fire Service and UBA Fire Service came to the scene but were unable to quench the fire.
Casualties were not yet determined as of the time of filing this report.
